Junky Chicken Love!

September 10, 2010

Today I have been featured in not one, but THREE Folksy Fridays… It’s a good day!

My map envelopes have been featured in this Packaging and Post themed Folksy Friday by Cuppa Tea and Cake.

My sheet music envelopes were included in this musical Folksy Friday by Wrapped Up With String.

The third blog, by Gemmipop Designs, has featured one of my lavender houses.

Thanks guys, it’s made my day! 😀

Folksy Fhursday – Organic

September 9, 2010

Folksy Fhursday is back, although I can’t guarantee that it will be here every Thursday as I am technically still on maternity leave and I’m far too busy changing nappies and enjoying baby smiles!

This week I have looked for some organic Folksy finds as it is currently Organic Fortnight.

The first organic find is this great t-shirt with a hand painted jellyfish on the front. You can get it in blue or pink from Laura Lee Designs. Unfortunately they don’t come in adult sizes.

The next item is this set of handmade, organic soaps from Spiral Moon. The soaps come in several different flavours.

This fantastic organic ‘Contented Cat’ bib is from Nell. There are some other great designs in her shop too so go and have a look!

This delicious sounding, ‘Strawberry Toffee’ organic merino yarn has been dip dyed and hand painted by Wharfedale Woolworks.

The last Folksy find for this week is this hand screen printed Kokeshi Purse from Peris & Corr. They have some lovely things in their shop so make sure that you go and have a look around.

Where I’ve Been!

August 26, 2010

For anybody that is wondering why Junky Chicken has gone a little quiet lately, this is all due to the owner of this tiny foot! My husband and I are now proud parents of a baby boy and have been busy enjoying him.

Junky Chicken will be reopening again soon but if you are desperate to spend money then you can always have a look in our felt shop which has been reopened today. We are offering a 10% discount on all orders placed between now and midnight on Friday.

Folksy Fhursday – Russian Dolls

July 15, 2010

This week I have decided to have a look through Folksy for some Russian Doll inspired finds.

The first find for this week is this Lambswool Russian Doll Egg Cosy from Sara Carr. Sara knits all kinds of beautiful things so make sure you go and have a look round her shop.

How about a bagful of Babushkas?! You can get this bag of 3 plushie Russian dolls from Beaky. If you are a fan of Russian Dolls then you will love Beaky’s shop as it is full of Russian Doll themed things.

This Childs Tote Bag is covered in Russian Dolls. You can get it from Nics Knots.

Judging by her dress, this cat is obviously a fan of Russian Dolls too! Get her from The Linen Cat.

The last find for this week is this fantastic set of Ship’s Crew Russian Dolls from Hole in my pocket. They have been hand-painted so each set is unique.

Folksy Fhursday – Guitars

July 8, 2010

This week I have decided to do a collection of guitar themed finds:

This Keep Calm and Rock On Pendant has been made from an old wooden scrabble tile. Get it from Pendant Pixie.

This Baby Bandana Bib is made from some great guitar print fabric. It’s made by Sew Pumpkin.

Get your own fingerprint hand engraved onto a silver guitar plectrum made by Chris Parry.

This Blue Wooden Guitar Brooch has been made by Voodoo Kiss.

This Hand Stamped Silver Guitar Pick from Silverhand can be personalised with any short song lyric, phrase or message.

Folksy Fhursday – Zebras

July 1, 2010

This weeks theme was picked by Joe. Zebra was the first random word to come into his head!

First up is this Zebra Sock Owl from the lovely Shaz at Oddsox.

This Cute Zebra Pin Badge is from It Belongs To Turtle.

This Sock Zebra is called Stripes and you can get her from Socklings.

You can get this set of 6 Vintage Style Zebra Gift Tags from Circusville.

Maggie the Sock Monster has been made from a toe sock, you can get her from iMake. I love that she has a third eye on her back!

Junky Chicken Reopens!

June 26, 2010

At long last, I have finally had a spare moment to get round to sorting out my Folksy shop! A little while ago I asked for your opinions on whether I should open a new shop so that my url could match my actual shop name, or whether to stick with my original shop. The clear winner in my poll was to open a new shop, and that is exactly what I have done!

I will gradually be filling it up over the next few days so keep an eye on it to see what lovely things might appear. There are only a few items so far as it is best to list new items frequently so I don’t want to list everything in one go!

Folksy Fhursday – Mice

June 24, 2010

This weeks Folksy Fhursday is a collection of mice related finds. Inspired by the fact that today I had to rescue two chickens that had been nibbled by mice while quietly minding their own business sat on a shelf in a craft shop. All they’d wanted was to find some friendly humans to take them home. Don’t be fooled by the cuteness of the mice you are about to see!

These Wee Mice from Quernus Crafts are annoyingly sweet, it’s very unhelpful when I’m trying to hate mice. They are sold individually and each one comes with a tiny piece of cheese.

According to the maker of Cara mousie, she was either named after Irene from Fame or the robust potato. Either way, she is another far too innocent looking mouse. Get her from Treaclezoo.

I love these postcards from Alice Wood. The mice have baked a tiny cake for Maud the elephant, they must be apologising for eating through something belonging to Maud.

This Mousie Mouse Moleskine Notebook has been gocco printed by Ink Me Up.

This Little Mouse Button Badge comes from Pixie Doodle Gifts. After picking this to go in this weeks Folksy Fhursday, I suddenly realised that the shop name was familiar because Pixie Doodle sells stuff in the very same craft shop that my damaged chickens were in. I hope it wasn’t this mouse that is to blame!

Folksy Fhursday – Bikes

June 17, 2010

Today’s theme is ‘bikes’ as this week is National Bike Week. Also, on Sunday, it is the London to Brighton bike ride, which means getting anywhere round here will be a test of creative thinking, trying to get from one side of the route to the other!

First up this week are these Bicycle Road Sign Cufflinks. You can get them from I de Claire.

This Collage Glass Pendant or Ornament has been made from two glass microscope slides, vintage ephemera and a vintage photograph. It is one of a kind so get over to Come day go day quick if you want it!

These fantastic steam punk earrings are from Jezebel Charms. Driving anywhere on a Sunday usually involves getting stuck behind cyclists, I don’t think I’d mind though if they were on a Penny Farthing!

This Bicyclette – Silk Neck Tie is 100% silk with a bicycle screen printed on. You can get one from Projector.

The last pick for this week is this Panda print from Chloe Batchelor Illustrations. The cat in the basket looks like he is having a fantastic time!

Folksy Fhursday – Bunting

June 10, 2010

I can’t believe it’s Thursday again! Unfortunately, this Thursday is a little less sunny than last week so I thought I’d do a bunting theme to help us all feel a bit more summery!

I love this idea of a 3D bunting card from 1000degrees Art Studio. A message can be written on the post blocks or on a flag at the top.

I love this Bird on bunting coin purse. You can get this and other lovely things from Dinky Daisy.

For something a bit different to the usual fabric bunting, how about some vintage paper bunting? Get it from English Vintage.

This purse from Pants and Paper is really summery! It would be perfect for holding your holiday spends.

The last pick for today is this bunting from Nickynackynoo. Why have triangles when you could have stars?!

I hope you enjoyed this weeks bunting finds. If you are still yearning for more then have a look at the bunting that I made for my wedding!
